Intallation on Windows Embedded CE firmware

Hi, I'm planning to install a DNX-6980 Kenwood dvd/nav unit wich I understand runs on own firmware based on Windows Embedded CE.
Does anyone know if hobdrive can be somehow installed in it?

Hi, If that's a win ce 5 or 6 - hobdrive will run fine most probably. the main question though is how difficult it will be to attach ELM327 to your unit.

Thank you Cail. The DNX-6980 works with Garmin GPS software. It has Bluetooth capability but I understand it is only for phone hands free operation. It also comes with an USB port for media but the manual does not include any instruction about how to load any additional software, only about how to update the firmware out of Kenwood or Garmin releases. Finally I dont't know if the firmware is based on WIN CE 5 or 6, just read somewhere about partnership among Microsoft and Kenwood about the soft used to drive the units. Could you gather some more information about possibility of installation of Hobdrive?

I have a GPS and I believe it has BT on it.

I just need to take the folder into the SD Card and then map the EXE file to start the application?

Would that be it in the WinCE5?

Let me know, because then I will try to convert my GPS to dash board and leave my phone alone.

sgcamusso, unfortunately I cant fetch more information on your unit. from what I know is that Garmin often do not use WinCE platfrom.

Yep, that should defenitely work even on WinCE5. But use hobd-standalone package.
After start, checkout OBD settings dialog to check if hobdrive correctly sees your BT stack.

Hi, unfortunately thats not always easy process. You have to have some experience, read on "unlock wince desktop", this'll give you a clue

even if hobdrive works under wince and sees the bluetooth dongle how do you manage the start in order to let me choose either the GPS software installed in the device or hobdrive?

Hi,

The simple solution - just replace GPS software with hobdrive executable.

The generic software - replace it with common script/tool, which starts third party UI shell AND hobdrive.

The Hobdrive works in a unit wince 5.0 with ELM 327 USB? I did install the system but an error message and even the software performs.
Error message:
ERROR
HOBD.EXE
ArgumentException
An error message cannot be displayed bacause an optional resource assembly containing it cannot be found.

Hello, you probably need hobdrive standalone version.
hobdrive works on WinCE5 units.

I have a Mitsubishi Lancer X 2.0 CVT Gasoline 2012 (Japanese version) and I installed the Hobdrive (WinCE version) in Roadrover D2280 multimedia.
I stabilished the connection with the ELM327 but only have battery voltage data is displayed in Hobdrive application.
