Toyota gt86 pid

Hi I have been using hob drive for a few years on my rx8 and its been great but I now have a Toyota gt 86 and would like to get oil temp on the screen. It's a custom pid so could you give me a clue on how to get editing the user file to change the oil temp?
The parameters work on torque but I like hob drive and want to get it working.

Hi.
Have you tried selecting Toyota21 ECU Type? It has "EngineOilTemp" sensor which looks very similar to what you are searching for.

I tried toyota21 but it didn't work on oil temp. i also got repeated warnings to check for air leakage dur to a parameter being too low. sorry I can't remember exatly but I'll check again. do I need to edit the ecuxml for oil temp to 2101 instead of coreAA ?

Could you double check the PID info (may be in torque it is defined?)

The 2101 is only a mode, but we need the PID itself to read the sensor.

The only info I have is the query address 7e0 . In torque I just entered the info from the first post as a custom pid and it worked ok. It's on an old android 2.3 tablet with wifi only linked to a wifi vgate dongle. I have hob drive demo on it as we'll but i cant get it to connect. I run hob drive on a win ce6 sat nav on Bluetooth.

Could you please try the following:

1) Setup ECU Type "toyota21"
2) enable TRACE logs in settings
3) connect, go to Sensors List screen and locate there "Toyota21.ErrorCodesCount" PID.
4) click of this pid and see the data it shows
5) take log.txt and put it here on forum.

done as requested. hobdrive froze a couple of times while changing settings but I rebooted and log file is here

forgot to say the toyota errorcodescount pid showed 1wT when clicked on.
i also ran the same settings on an android version

Could you tell me what state of the engine was when you captured that?
I see values like 15 celsius degrees oil temp. Could that be true?

Is your gt86 from JDM? (I.e. right located steering wheel)

There probably other custom PIDs could be fetched from there as well, there's a plenty of data:

Engine was warming up from cold on drive home but temp should be 35 very quickly rising to 85c
It's a uk right hand drive spec so not sure about Jdm There is a trd model but I don't think the emu map is changed from normal. Just cosmetic changes I think.

Try the attached file, rename it to `user.ecuxml` and put into the hobdrive's root installation folder
(for android - sd card, hobdrive folder).

I've added EngineOilTemp sensor, there is also a plenty of PIDXX sensors, which has unknown information it them, you may try to guess and edit this file accordingly.

I tried the file on wince and it seems I got no response from any of the pids. log file enclosed.
i will try on the android version tomorrow.

For some reason I see Toyota21 sensors in your log, but there should be ToyotaGT86.* sensors.

Please also enable TRACE logging to put more details into the log.

hi, I changed the vehicle specs to standard and ran it again. The log has a few starts without connecting where I was trying to set it up so I edited this out. The gt86 oil temperature pid was changing from low readings to high and back so I don't think this is the right pid for it. Is there a template for reading the log into excel to sort out the readings. i tried importing but it's not easy for me. is there anything else i can do to help trace the pids?

Ah, I see my mistake - that should be PID31, not 30.

Check out the updated file.

To record and analyze other files, you have to manually setup sensor tracking:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=553

Put in there all PID0 - PIDXX sensors, after collection you'll be able to convert that to Excel. You may share these logs with me and I'll try to help you understanding what PID means what.

finally got it working and have the oil temp displayed. I had a problem with the set up and found it works with toyota jdm and can mode 21. thank you for the help with this.
I have not been able to get the logging working for the unknown pids. I think the log file syntax is wrong. If you could find time to have a look at the enclosed file I'd be grateful for your help again.

kellogs, try putting the same into "default.track" file. The syntax looks correct. Checkout log.txt for any error messages.

hi.
I tried moving to default.track without any sucess. I've moved to an android tablet and set up the same. The additional pid's show in the sensor list and get readings on screen. the log shows error in [filename unknown] which looks like syntax error but i don't think this is related to the default track file. there are some track files in the folder but non for the unknown pids1-39. log file enclosed. I can't work out why they are not logged?

Something wrong with your XML. please double check it.
